I need a bit of help with this.

Can someone tell me which book is better. Illusion Book by Andrew Mayne or Advanced Illusion Projects by Tim Clothier. Also, if someone has bought these can you give me a list of the effects. Im not to interested on blowing 50 bucks.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't own it, I really like IllusionTech, also by Andrew Mayne. He gives good info on why and how illusions work, plus diagrams for a ton of great illusions.

Tim's book only has 8 illusions in it... Here are the names and a brief description of some of them.

STEAM
The appearance of the Magician from steam coming from a network of pipes.

R/C CAR VANISH
A radio controlled car vanishes from its box and reappears on the far side of the stage.

COMPACT DECEPTION
The Magician turns a CD player into his assistant.

HEADZ UP
The assistant is cut into three pieces then the box opened to show the legs, torso and head all separated.

ALIEN ABDUCTION
An AREA51 routine in which an Alien vanishes and reappears in the Magician's place.

This is more for the experienced builder. I'm not familiar with Mayne's book. However, based on some of his past work, I'd probably pass, but that's just me.... I really don't like his stuff, but to each his own.

I'm not crazy about what I have seen from Andrew Mayne... however most of his work is easy to construct.

Six Basic Secrets of Illusion design is a must
