Hi,
I have been doing magic for probably 3 years off and on.
It was more of a hobby than anything, and I was looking
into stage magic effects. I was just wondering how newbie
friendly Candle tricks are. I have seen a few that intrest
me. One of which comes from Abra4magic.com. It is the
dissapearing Candle and they also have a candle thru silk,
and a candle thru arm. I was just curious how hard this
would be for someone like me? Thanks in advance! :D

EDIT: I just recently searched for candles on this site and
I saw some amazing deals! No way am I going back to
Abra4magic!

I would suggest the Vanishing Candle by Fantasio. In fact any candle product from Fantasio is a quality prop. However with the Vanishing Candle, you can also use it as an Appearing Candle too.

If you really want to get into this type of magic, you may want to get Fantasio's book My Canes and My Candles. This book will give you a wealth of tips and tricks you can do with Fantasio's products.

Magician Michael P. Lair also has some tricks and routines for many of Fantasio's products .

Finally, I know there are some knock off products for sale online that are cheaper. They're inferior. Stick with the Fantasio stuff. It's the original, and the best. I have 3 Vanishing Candles that are almost 30 years old ! So the quality is definitely there.

Hope this helps,
Brian

Have you consodered the multipling candles? They work like the multiplying billiard balls. Very nice effect.

Impromptu vanishing and appearing candle. it easier because you dont need all the little gizmos and gadgets to go with them all. its prety hard to find these days though. *sigh*

Hey guys thanks.... I know it has been a while since I was on... sorry for that. But now after rereading these replies I need some more advice. Should I buy the book first? Or should I buy the tricks first? My budget as of yet is around $!00.00 which is not enough to get all the tricks I want and the book... so?

Second If I got the disappearing candle, (which I guess can appear), could I use it for the Candle Thru Arm? Is the Candle Thru Arm worth getting?

Oh and one more thing... there is this trick that I found a long while ago, I wanted it, but since then I forgot what it was called. It was a levitation trick, but I didn't see it in that section of this site... Essentially the trick was you have a ring, and you put it over an object, then lift and the object lifts with the ring.... Anyone know what it is called?

Thanks everyone! :D

Hey thanks man! Just what I was looking for...

By any chance to you own the trick? If so is it any good? And wasn't that on this site before? I thought I saw it on here...

Also can you use any candle for the candle thru arm?
I'd imagine that the candle would be the gimmick... but I don't own it... yet.

Well I have a question about candle magic, and firgued I shouldn't just start a whole new thread when there is already one on the topic... so not trying to hijack it or anything... just a quick question.

So I was looking for some multiplying candles and was wondering if I used candles like this, would it look cliche if all my other tricks were done with fantasio's candles (much longer and slender candles)?? And also does anyone know if you could just do a multiplying candle act with just using multiple appearing candles?
