I've seen the zombie ball performed a few times and still amazes me. Alot of it depends on the magician and the actions they perform. Some do it comedic style while others do it seriously. However it is a very cool effect to watch.

I got my Zombie in Japan about 20 years ago. Mine comes apart into halfs which makes it nice to pack. It is also aluminum. I havent seen what type of materials are used today. I also made my own color changing Zombie. I get good reactions from the Zombie. I do it two ways. For the kids, I play hide and seek with it. for adults and the stage I do a much slower mystical routine to music.
I think it is worth the investment and the time needed to perfect it. 8)

In regards to the Zombie ball I do have another question. Since I plan on doing kids parties in the future, would this be an effect you could do fairly close-up? Like what distance would you recommend? I remember seeing this on several magic shows when young, Mark Wilsons show, and some others, still not sure how you do it, although I have a guess. Anyway if someone could answer this and also how much practice time would you say one needed to get it down good? Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

I have done it in living rooms and even close up "ish" outside. One thing to be sure of. Make sure there are no lights behind you. If there is, then the gimmick can be seen through the cloth. I made the mistake of performing in front of a living room window with the outside light shining in and they all sae "the secret". 8)

Another Zombie tip - be careful when using it outside. If a breeze comes up, it can blow the foulard and expose the gimmick. Trust me, it can happen.
