While lookinh through my "OLD" boxes and scrap books for escape pictures, I came across 2 pictures of my first substitution trunk that I made. It was the 2nd illusion I built. Notce the LADY FROM LIGHT behind it. that was the first illusion I built. Hope you don't mind my reminiscing.

By the way, did you get the plans for your stuff from a book, or a friend? I have been thinking of building a couple of illusions myself.

I get my ideas from everywhere I can. The sub trunk is a perfect example. I saw some suggestions in Genii magazine, and saw the trunk of 2 friends. Paul Osborne has some illusion plans books which are helpful.
Since this topic of the sub trunk came up a couple of days ago, I have even come up with another improvement on the trunk. Perhaps it is already being used. If so great.
I think that a sub trunk would be a good beginning for building illusions. If you can build a sub trunk with square sides, your are on your way. The most difficult item I built was the table for my Asrah levitation. It helps to have friends who have the tools also.

Who are building illusions and what are you building?

I am wanting to start building illusions, to start a stage show. Fortunately I have all the tools I need, being carpentry and metal working are other hobbies of mine. I have seen several books on plans for sale, and I am going to build something next month. Since you suggested the trunk, Mr. Bunnell, I think I will give that a shot first.

I have also seen several gimmick illusions that look neat, like the floating head in chair, and the like. I really am interested in the trick "assistants revenge". It looks like there is a lot of potential for creativity.
