I'm planning on performing in my school's talent show. However, students are limited to under 10 minutes! Does anyone know of a few good stage tricks that will really stun the audience? :D

i'm not into stage magic.. but from the looks of it.. cups and balls.. haha.. balls.. oh.. sorry.. we're learning about that kind of stuff.. YET AGAIN.. in school.. this is the 4th year in a row.. our teacher told us not to say balls.. (i'm in 8th grade) and he told us not to say that.. anyway.. back onto the subject.. cups and.. uh.. ___ seem the be popular.. and i always thought that Sucker Die Box looked pretty neat... and if you could get them to turn (almost) all the lights out.. D - Lites look neat..

My talent show is in two days and when we did our dress rehersal yesterday I had the other participants jumping out their seats.

My show (effects only)

 dots next (a 2 sided card with 1 dot on one side and 4 on the other ends up up with 3 and 8, in a I'm just as confused as you manner)

 Vanishing hank and Absorbing news routine to music (after vanished hank reappears and then vanishes again it reappears in my empty mouth; its then tucked into a previously shown normal news paper along with some water; the paper is open and turned upside down showing the water and hank gone; when its turned back right side up the water is poured out red and a white hank is removed from the news paper)

 Magician vanishes (me) only to reappear in the back of one of the isles; walk back on stage and vanish my cane; "thank you, thank you"

I have 6 minutes give or take 30 sec.

Wow. Pretty cool and wild show! Mine is about the same length of time. Any suggestions on a less wild act about 5 minutes long?

My show was finalized the day of and went like this:

 Rope thru body
 Vanishing Hank and absorbing news
 Vanishing me (they went nuts when I came in from the back of the auditorium)

LordLance I'm not sure where to start because like Brisco said I don't know your skill level and stuff like that, but I have learned and do know and have said before that like anything in entertainment one's presentation is 90% of how entertaining/good someone is. I'm going to post a clip of my show soon, because I don't think I can do it justice by just talking.

Let me know how much experiance you have and I'd be able to suggest some things to you.

I suggest getting andrew Maynes Facelifter, it is real easy to make and blows people away. If you have a magic shop near you, you should be able to rent a sub truck.

Some good short but strong tricks that I have are:

 rope thru body
 Dots Next
 Vanishing Cane
 Vanishing Hank (reproduce hank from your mouth)
 Hummer Card (float it, disengage it, vanish it with back palm, and the throw it to the wowed audiance)

Some things that are on my to get list (especially since I won the show) are:

 production from silks
 wild levitaion
 face lifter

Some other cool things, but not exactly sure yet. I have what I believe this wonderful idea (not an effect, but a unique presentation idea, a character if you will). When its done (my show) penguin will be the first to hear about it.

I know I've said this before, but the most important part of any trick is the presentation (have fun) if you're having fun more than likely they will too. If you come up with an original way to present simple trick you can make it, one fun, two your own.

Hi everyone! I am trying out for the talent show in 3 days. I really appreciate all of your help. Here's the line up.

 Mandarin Mirror Box apperaing silk
 Flip Tip routine with appeared silk
 Equal Unequal Ropes
 Zombie Ball
 Walk off stage in the middle of Bisection

I still would love suggestions for another talent show I may do! :!:
