Im starting to branch out into stage magic and need some suggestions on what i should get. I am a solo preformer I'm young(still in high school) and i dont have much cash(I'll be getting work soon) I dont have a problem searching the web to find an effect so they dont have to be only tricks sold at penguin.

thanks you guys,
orpheus

well for one i do shows and i am 13. So i say that if you are preforming for kids then you could get the peanut butter and jelly illusion that I use often. Strat o sphere is good appearing cane. The thing is that i need to know your preforming style do you like cards ect.

I like cards for close up and I dont think they would be good for stage. I really dont have a preforming style. Anything would be good, I just need some advice from people who know what they are talking about.

well I would suggest going into the stage magic section of penguin and watch some demos. If you do that then you can judge if you like it or not.

Some good starting tricks are:
Appearing Cane
PB&J Illusion
Production Box to produce props(mirror box)
Vanishing Silk, or TT

Any of these are great, TT is basically required! :D

Asuming you want to do illusions. What you could do is build the illusions your self. You dont have to be a carpenter to do so. However you are going to need some skill, and the right tools. If you build the illusions your self, you can save a lot of money.

One other thing to take in consideration, is do you have enought storage space for the illusions you build.

Some easy to build illusions:
    Dagger head chest
    Sub trunk
    Shadow box
    sword basket

If you build those illusions you have a show right there.

Paul Osborne has some books on building illusions your self. The plans are very detailed. You should look into his books.
