Appearing Poles and Straws are supposed to be able to come out of small paper bags, or at least mine is. This does not work for me with out exposing how the trick works. What can I do to prevent this from happening, or allow the pole to come out better from the bag?

I was wondering the same thing. It takes longer and more room for it to 'open up' fully so it doesn't expose the gimmick.

Just use a slightly larger paper bag but have it folded down to almost nothing to beging the trick. The bag I use is a little larger than a brown lunch bag but smaller than a grocery bag.

I know what you mean, but it would just look cooler to pull it out of something smaller.

There actually is a holder you can get for these items that will keep them in a tight, closed position until you need to open them. I have attached one of these holders to the back of my assistant's head (similar to a large roller for her hair). The hair actually hides the holder. When I am ready, I reach behind her and produce an eight foot magic wand.

dont know exactly if we are referring to the same pole,
but i saw in a show (im not much into stage magic, im a simple spectatore there!) a magician extracting the pole from the shirt of his assistant (at the end of a comedy routine about phillipines surgery made by hand... it looked like he entered inside the assistant stomach and began to take out the pole -that was over 2 meters long)
