What do you think. What ideas do you think the TV should give us and our childern. I am not for government censorship but I feel that MTV should at least show some common decency.

Any words on this?

I think we should use the TV as a learning device, you knwo, teach our kids stuff, teh kind of things they need to know, without forcing opinions down their throats. now, i'm not a big watcher of MTV, but I agree about decency, ther's juts about none on MTV...

Just like how hip hop, videogames, and Mcdonalds are corrupting our youth, right?

you can decide not to buy a video game for a kid. Although you can also just not watch the channel that does not insure that your kid wont because everyone is telling him to watch it at school.

Plain and simple, No.

I rather have my kids watching the "Trash" that is on TV and being exposed to things such as South Park (although not advocating it in the least) than have my kids get on the Internet and really be exposed to some trash.

Why not neither, I feel that MTV is gateway trash to worse things.

Because at least television (whether being MTV or any other channel) has some sort of censorship. You can't censor the Internet.

Sure, you can put child blocks on the web, but kids are usually one step ahead of the parent and will always find a way to get around anything that blocks something or another.

Still I feel that MTV promotes drinking, sex, and behaving in a destructive manner.

Pinning all of life's irrational choices on one tv station doesn't work. That's why the v-chip was invented after all.

Any one can reset a v-chip. The default code is 0000, how hard is that.

I wasn't suggesting that the v chip worked or is even necessary, I'm saying that trying to censor entire channels is in itself, irrational.

I never said the internet was not bad but the topic is not about the internet, it is about MTV. The internet is a separate matter that can be handled in another new topic but for now stay on MTV please.
