I had a question about car insurance, my dads dream for the past ten years has been to buy a porsche boxster, he really wants an S but he says the insurance cost makes him not want to buy it. I know one of the older people on here could only give me a ballpark but do you have any Idea the difference it would cost between ensuring a boxster and a boxster S, I'd really like to find a way to pay the difference for him. I thought it would be a small difference considering that the difference in price is only $6,000, however apparently having a faster engine ups the cost a lot.

Also on that note I am going to have to find a way to make some money, does anyone have any tips on some things that a random person might have to sell on ebay and make some money. I know people are going to say get a job, but pretty soon I am going to start training for my future career so I don't want to commit to anything I can't keep doing.

The ONLY person that can help you on this is your insurance agent. The reason is that auto insurance rates vary from state to state and even from city to city within the states. i.e. if you live in upstate NY the same identical insurace will be much lower than if you live in Manhattan, and will be different than in Brooklyn. So call you agent and ask him. Case in point, I lived in Cincinnati OH and when I moved to Milford OH which is a suburb of Cincinnati, my rates dropped 25% because I moved. Nothing else changed.

Call up a few insurance agents and ask for a quote for your dads age, years driving, type of car to insure and they should give you a estimate on the sport.

I personally want a 1970 Dodge Charger when I can afford one, Insurance, Rego and running of my Mazda6 alone is cutting into my magic profits, especially since I'm still a student and can't perform full-time.

I agree with Paddy’s suggestions. Talk to people who work in the industry or direct insurance companies. If your dad is a part of any organization(s) that may have business tie-ups, you may also want to explore that. For example, AARP has a tie-up with The Hartford for providing AARP members discounts on auto insurance. Talk to them while comparing quotes and see if you can get your dad an AARP membership too, if he does not have it already.
