Mind sharing why? I'm not offended just wondering.
Well, I'll have to start by saying that the book was one of my favorites in the series. That being said, the movie was an absolute mess. Major plot points were removed. Main characters were removed. Important scenes were removed. The plot was switched around constantly. It only loosely followed the plot. Things were added in that weren't necessary (and took away from major plot points). Characters' appearances were changed...It was just really awful.
Yes, but didn't Watchmen make your slot for "best movie of all time?" Don't get me wrong, it was a great movie, but taking out the squid and changing the deterrent to "Dr. Manhattan" changes the entire point of the story. Instead of leaving humanity with a common problem to rally against, which makes the statement that humans will only unite in the face of adversity, we leave them with, essentially, a god figure, which makes the statement that humans are incapable of not killing each other without an omnipotent father figure watching over them.
The changes made in Watchmen were in good taste. (In my opinion. I very much liked Zack Snyder's vision for the film.) The story was also only slightly changed. No main characters were taken out, the story was not changed enough to ruin the movie. The movie was still in proper sequential order. Yes, some events were changed, but the only major one was the end, which was still a great ending anyway. With HP:GoF, the plot was as screwed up as The Lightning Theif's plot, compared to the book. (Which by the way is so awful it's not even worth talking about...but I'll talk about it anyway.)
Also, just for clarification, I haven't read all of Watchmen.

Yeah, American History X and The Butterfly Effect should be on my list...

The Butterfly Effect would get on there, but A Beautiful Mind wouldn't?
Definitely not. I really enjoyed A Beautiful Mind, but it wasn't one of my favorites.
