Just got back from The Illusionist. It was beautiful. Truly a masterpiece, and a reminder that animation is one of the greatest forms of film, that should not be dying the way it is. Especially with all the 3D movies coming out, it seems animation (2D animation) is getting pushed further and further under the rug, so this was a breath of fresh air.

Has anyone else seen it?

Also keep in mind this is not a debate about 3D vs. 2D.)

Great movie. I thought its slightly better than the prestige. although, having watched the prestige for the second time recently, its pretty good also.

Is this a silent film?
I love 2d animation, I'm planning on working in that field in the future.

It's an Israely animated movie about the war in Lebanon, it makes the IDF (Israely Defense Force) look really bad in some parts so trust me, as a soldier in the IDF who recommends this movie anyway, that it is good.

It isn't silent, but there isn't a lot of dialogue. (The dialogue is also mostly in French)

I love animated films as well. I want to watch The Triplets of Belville, as it is by the same people who did The Illusionist. I'll check out Waltz with Bashir.

It seems France and Japan are still very much into 2D animation. (As well as many other European countries)

I think it would be amazing to do environments for them. (I would consider that as a career).

I saw it in a Regal cinema, around the Boca Raton area (somewhere)...
in Florida. I doubt it's playing very many places, though, so I just got lucky. My mom actually brought me to see it, otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to.
