I don't know everything about japan but I know that there is quite a lot of british people in certain areas. Generally speaking, japanese people are pretty friendly towards other people and they are passionate to help others. Some younger people do know how to speak some english, so you can always ask for help.
As for the language itself. Japanese is fairly easy to learn compared to english. Many words sounds exactly the same as the english words. Like for example: tomato in japanese is surprisingly To-Ma-To, and computer in japanese is Kon-Pyu-Ta. I'm pretty sure that if u spend time learning the language, ull perfect it within like 3 to 5 years.
Ya, for words that Japan didn't have before, they use English words, (like magic), but actually, it gets a lot tougher after that, I think...
Exactly, Scorpio. It's like Sushi is pronounced the same in America as in Japan, because the word came from Japan. The language is actually complex, and tougher to learn for someone used to english versus chinese. For example, you know english and want to learn spanish, you already know most of the characters, with japanese, you are going to have to learn a new set of characters. It's not impossible, just a little challenging. Should not be a problem for you if you want to do it, but I would go to a bookstore, and try and find a learning system. That should head you in the right direction for your basics.
