If psychics lie, wouldn't the person they are "mind reading" ask for a refund?

no, because psychics are always very vague. if they are really psychic, don't you think they would at least mention names?

they all say "I am getting a J....maybe John?" and the spectator finds this so amazing because he guessed someone in their family's name begins with J. So they're like "oh my god!! Jacob!"

So then wouldn't they ask personal stuff about "jacob" that the psychic couldn't answer? that would really screw the psychic up...

You need to google the art of cold reading. There is no such thing as Psychics, mind readers, or Palm readers that actually have those skills for real. They just cold read the mark.
