I've been thinking instead of buying a magic close up padwhy not make your own!(you can make them as big or as little as you want!)

 Buy as many mouse pads as you want (make sure there the kind with the cloth top)
 Carefully peel off the cloth leaving the rubber bottom
 Loosely sew the pads togeather in any way you wish!
 Go to a cloth store and but any material you want to cover the pads with
 glue the cloth on!

Vola! you got yourself a close up pad, I know it will be more expensive, but you can customize it to any thing you want and with it loosly sewn its seme-foldable!

p.s tell me how it turns out if you decide to make one!

Wait wait wait. This thread says a way to save money but you just said it would be more expensive. I'm so confused. Honestly, it would be better to just buy a close up pad. You can still customize one that you buy. Just my two cents. :D

No, you don't understand. In the message he says

In the topic it says Neat way to save money. So in the topic it says this way is cheaper but in the message it says his method is more expensive. Or am I musinderstanding something? :?

Sounds like a bait and switch tactic --like they use at Sears or a car dealership..

I think that its a wayto save money on a big close up pad. I think it might be cheaper than buying several closeup pads and glueing them all together. Just my interpretation.

This entire thread is just too funny, starting with the misleading title.

just buy a role of paper towels. glue a couple together to get the right thickness, then viola, a cheap close-up pad

you can also take a sharpie and customize it :)

Hey guys, you're thinking about this the wrong way round. Just cover all your magic tricks in velvet then you won't need to buy a close-up mat. Mega-saving.

Here's another handy tip.
Don't go throwing $4 down the drain buying a TT. Simply dip your big toe in liquid nitrogen, snap it off, hollow it out and away you go.

Wow, this topic is generating good ideas. Keep up the good work. Does anyone know of a place to buy some cheap nitrogen?
