is there a difference between this and siberian chain escape besides the material its made out of. I have been wanting this for awhile but never reall looked into it until recently. Does anybody have it?

If this is the same as the 'Malaysian Torture Strap' marketed years ago, yes, it is only a leather version of the Siberian Chain.

Does the Siberian Chain Escape work just like the royal chain escape?

I checked out both items.

The Royal Chain Escape is just a light Siberian Chain.

The Asylum Wrist Restraint is also a Siberian Chain variant, but is an improvement over the Malaysian Torture Strap in that the Asylum restraint can be padlocked (it looks quite nice).

So, do you think it would be beneficial to pick up this restraint?

What I did was super size my royal chain restraint - Top chain in this photo.

If you want to add the strap version to your cache, it does look nice.

Or, you could get a few leatherworking tools and supplies and make leather restraint escapes of your own.

For some good books on Escapes of this type, get Burling Hull’s 33 Rope Ties and Chain Releases, and McLaury’s Encyclopedia of Escapes; both available from Cannon’s Great Escapes.
