So, I had my first show for a school auction and it went great. They loved it when I did a balloon to dove. The only problem is that I haven't received a call yet and I at least passed out 100 cards. What should I do to get another gig?

2 reasons:

1: no one has any reason to hire you yet. People need a reason, they wont just hire you.

2: you thought you were better than everyone else did. Despite reactions they may be thinking, oh last years magician was better, ect.

Also, most people will lost or forget about your card. And if you did the show for free, people may not want to book you, or you may be under 16, in which case the majority of poeple will not want to book you.

Business cards are only one way of marketing, and they are very passive. What else are you doing to sell your shows? If you are serious about the business of show business then get to the library or take some courses in marketing and advertising.
