I want to buy so more gag type material to addinto my show. Ive realized that I have to many effects and not enough gags. What are the best gags for shows that involve the audience and are great for laughs?

You could use Mouth Coils. Zacharias provided a link, but those are mostly pranks to pull on people, and not really gags for your magic act.

The Break Away Wand is always funny, it's out of stock here but i'm sure you can find it somewhere else. Paper Balls over head is pretty funny, I believe it's featured on On The Spot with Gregory Wilson. 3D Multiplying Rabbits could be funny, probably not great for a kids show though...

That's all I can think of off the bat, if I think of anything else i'll be sure to tell you.

Pick up any Patrick Page DVD's or published books. He has loads of info on bits of buisness and gags for children.

You know I have often thought of this, because I know that "gags" are a big part of performing for children. However, my daughter doesn't use gags in her routine. Perhaps she can get away with it because she is a female and she can get away with something different? I'm not really sure, but it hasn't seemed to impact her. The only female magician on DVD we have is Trixie Bond from the Kidabra DVD and her routine also didn't involve comedy. I know she is a very successful children's performer.

Now, my daughter does a lot of "playful GOOD teasing" -- or perhaps joking would be a better word - with the birthday child. Again, it is playful, interactive, and gets the giggles going and a few shout-outs.

Ummmm I don't know if thats a girl vs boy thing.
But personal experince is that my character was built around a goofy circus kind of clown, tho with out the crazy outfit, makeup and shoes lol.
But gags and bits of buisness are a big part of my show.
From the standard breakaway wand and topsy popsy wand to the running gags.

Adam I agree! I believe gags and other fun items thrown into the mix breaks up the show a bit and adds bits of biz that kids enjoy.
For instance the wilting rose. I use it to show that my breath is minty fresh, of course when I blow on it the rose wilts unknowing to me.
My large sponge camera with gag photos in the back. The Racoon, the computer mouse that I struggle with and slowly pull it up by the tail to show how mean the mouse looks.
I couldn't imagine doing a kid show without them. It's each preference and what fits the persons style.
