Well apparently my mom wants me to go back to my sisters class and do another show for her end of the year party. Again the kids are 8 yrs old. Do you think that having three of them tie me up would be too much for them to follow or just not interest them?

What do you have? I don't know if an escape is good. Just my opinion. If you do the escape at least (You probaly know this already) but make it funny to them.

Yea I know that lol. Well I have rope and cuffs and was thinking of doing soemthing along the lines of:

-Have handcuffs on first
-Have kids wrap me in rope and make jokes of too tight and other things
-Have them throw a towel over me and then I will say that the towel is too distracting and have the cuffs off and pull it off and hand a kid the cuffs.
-Get out of ropes

Kids love it when they can help make it so nobody could escape from anything. Just think of all of them taking turns making sure you are tied in right. I think it is a good idea and they would be intrested.

You might want to make sure you tell the kids not to try it on their own. Would be horribel if some poor kid got hurt tieing himself of, or being tied up by his friends.
Aside from that little bit (which you most likely throw in anyway) sounds like you have a good performance.

I'd say go for it, kids like it. But as another poster said, I wonder if it can lead to dangerous consequences down the road. However, in a Silly Billy column recently, he featured a kid show performer who does indeed use an escape in his act and that escape was featured.

I wouldn't perform this type of escape for 8 yr olds. Even if you tell them not to do this at home, there is a very real risk that someone might just do that. This creates a physical risk for the child and a liability risk for you and the school.

If you are going to do an escape, at least use props that are not easily accessible to most kids. For instance, I don't know of many kids who own or have access to a straight jacket. The kids will have lots of fun strapping you in and then timing your escape. The apparent skill of the escape will amaze the kids without putting any of them at risk.

I remember a while back Fallingblood performed a straight jacket escape for Elementary School kids, and it went over great.

8 yr olds are copy cats. Do not do an escape for them because they WILL try to do the trick themselves when you're not there.

Yeah. That's like swallowing knives in front of a 4 year old...you get my point. I would say go with some nice little balloon animals or card productions that amaze them but are easy.

Huh, as a PERFORMING ESCAPE ARTIST... I have never had a problem with kids that have seen my shows trying to copy me.

I also rarely tell them not to go home and try this. I dont see a real point to it- enless its something thats truely dangerous. But if its to be a comedy act, then I dont worry about it.

People will copy you whether you tell them to or not, not just kids.

If your worried, just do some simple escapes in a comedy routine. Not something big like what you want to do.

I have done in the past: SJ and chains, 100ft of rope, and various quick release escapes with rope and chain.


Also if you so worried, keep al rope and chain chest down- away from the neck.

I once used a bodybag, military belts and a padlock. This was something that they don't normaly see.

I'm going out on a limb here... but I would guess that you have never performed a kid show have you?
Balloon animals and card productions? Don't address something if you have no idea yourself.
