Right now I'm 17 and I've been doing magic since I was about 14. I don't really do kid magic, but I realized that because of my age if I try to put a show together for adults I'm not going to be taken as seriously as someone maybe in their mid 20 and up. And I don't want to be out of doing magic for 10 years until I can be taken seriously as an entertainer. So thats why I've decided to do shows for kids until I get a little older. So this post is basically just to ask for any help you guys can give me.

1) Best ways to get bookings (I read in one post that you should do a free show at a public library and at the end give out your business cards)

2) good tricks that kids love

3) how much should I charge

4) how long to make a show ( I don't want to make it to long, the kids could get restless)

5) sould I do a couple of tricks for the adults at the party, or should I just be focused on the kids

You got this "Fact" from where? Because your wrong. I was doing shows for adults at that age, as were (and are) many other performers.
Its all in how you present yourself.

Dont do it, enless you really want to. If you dont enjoy it, your most likely going to fail.

If thats your only reason to start doing kids shows... its not a good one.

Kids shows are alot harder to put on. Trust me.

To answer all your other questions... look around this section. All of those questions have been answered numerous times. I bet most of them can be answered alone just by looking at the first two pages of topics in this section.

Wow, You did a shows for adults at my age David. Was it hard for you to get gigs? I just assumed that most adults looking for a magician to be at their party would look for someone thats more older and mature. I didn't want to waste my time putting a routine together that I wouldn't be able to use. Maybe it wouldnt be a waste of time than.

David is correct that kids can be more difficult.

My daughter did her first "adult only" show when she was only 13. She was hired for a fundraising event after the event organizer saw her perform for a City event for 4th of July.

The most important thing to keep in mind is professionalism, no matter what your age may be, customer service, and providing the client with a quality performance that is entertaining.

If you can supply all of that to your client, then you will be successful.
