Wednsday night I had my first paid kid show, and it went great. I've done 2 free shows before now, but this was my first paid show. There were about 40 kids, ages 4-7 and 3 or 4 10 year olds, and about 12 adults.

But I have to give major credit for my show to Seriously Silly by David Kaye - the man is a GENIUS!! Also thanks to everyone here on the forum for helping me with scripting (if not for your suggestion for a warm up, the show would be nothing - but my warm up made them putty in my hands). Back to SS - it has sooo much child psycology that you would think Kaye is a doctor not a magician. All his tips helped IMMENSELY, and his coloring book routine rocks! I highly recommend you get the book if you don't have it. Yes it's expensive, but it will improve your show so much. And you will make back at least 3 times the cost of the book in one show.

I have the video of the show online for whoever wants to see it (about 30 min long, but you can skip around) and I would really appreciate the feedback. I am keeping the video private so I am only releasing the link to people via PM. I reserve the right to choose who I give the link to (basically anyone I saw on the forum giving GOOD advice, and being helpful).

Good Job Ayli, I have SS also and I love it. I am in the process of making a routine now and I am using it tons. I would love to see your show, it would be great if you could send me the link.

I am doing the exact same thing that you are doing and right now I am in the process of making a routine. It would be awesome to be able to see the right way of how to do it by watching your video. I have plenty of good tricks for kids, I am just having trouble learning everything that I should say while doing the tricks or inbetween the tricks.

Since you have plenty of good tricks now you should be investing in learning material. There is so much out there to teach you everything you need to know, it's up to you to use them.

Ayli, good job on putting together a show. However I was a bit disappointed that your show was not original. You copied your coloring book routine word-for-word from SS. You copied many other aspects of that book as well instead of making up your own show. You had a good stage presence but you need to learn the concept of plagerism. I know I come across as mean but I want to make a point. I enjoyed the show, but I didn't expect so much David Kaye.

You're right, but I basically had no choice. They only told me the (actual) ages about two days prior to the show. Two weeks before they told me it was going to a couple 5 year olds, and the rest 7-8, so I has made a routine that was fit for that (older) age group. But then they called and said mostly 5 year olds, who can write a decent routine in a day! So I resorted to his routine.
Next time I hope to use my original routine.

Turning 17 in April.

I take back what I said earlier Ayli. That was a veerry good show for very short notice. I still keep my opinion on plagerism but I understand your predicament. I could tell that everyone was well entertained, which is what every magician should strive for.
