Anyone have any feedback about the re-use of hats. One of my fellow magicians brought up the issue of lice and the use of a hat on different kids at different shows. I was wondering if anyone thought about this and if so how it was handled.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

I wouldn't use the same hat on two different people because of, like you said, the possibility of lice or dandruff.

well...you could wash them I guess...however it would be a pain to do so after every show

Indeed it would be.

are they necessary for your routine? If not, you might do better to just do without...

There are a few great gags the hats can be used for. A large top hat being pulled over the kids face, a shower cap for the milk pitcher routine (Silly Billy), and more. The shower caps I just buy new since they are so cheap, but the hats are more expensive.

You might like to look into a bongo hat... it's a LOT of fun, and is made of durable paper...they run very reasonable and can be a great gag in your show.
