Sending a christmas card to people who have booked you in the past year is a great way to help people remember you. Not that they'll forget you if they enjoyed your show but:

1) As time goes on, their memory of you may lower a bit

2) It can create an extra 'positive touch' with your past client(s) that may very well be your ticket to performing for them again and/or being recommended by them.

There is more to getting repeat clients (rebooked) and recommendations from past clients than simply just the show.

You may want to consider this for the upcoming holiday season (yes, I know it's still months away)!

Be careful send Christmas cards out shotgun. If some of your clients were Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, or other non Christians they may be offended. A generic "holiday" card, not a Christmas card will solve that.

On a side note, your first sentence should read "Be care WHEN you send out christmas cards, shotgun."

Then I guess yours should have read, "Be careFUL when you send out christmas cards, shotgun."

Sad but true.

This is such a random thing to post about in the middle of August. Anyways, its a great idea.

No Andrew, this is the right time for this post. Now is the time to get your mailing list updated and set up. Also to look for customized cards printed up with your picture and logo.

Like retailers, we have to prepare our sales campaigns at least a season before we can use them. I am now emailing festivals for Dec and Jan, but iit is REAL late so I don't expect to get any good ones. I'll start my campaign for spring festivals within a week.

I apologize for bumping this thread back up - I haven't been on since august as I've been so embarrassed since Kristen had to catch this?

LOL, actually, I don't know why I haven't been on for months.

And I hope you guys are all getting your cards ready now but wait until after thanksgiving until any are sent out (unless you're in the northern country of Canada where our thanksgiving is long gone now).
