I have a show coming up for a 5 year olds birthday party. There will be about 10-15 kids ages 4-5. I wanted to do the balloon bag (you know the one with the balloon dog... Here's the video) and I was wondering if they would take the playing dead part too seriously resulting in tears, or would they just play along?

I don't think using the same patter would work, but the plot of the trick would work well. Chances are in about 3 hours I'll randomly think up an idea while playing Halo 2. I'll tell you if I come up with anything tomorrow.

P.S. I went to the library today, and picked up the book you asked about yesterday. I'll bring it with me tomorrow.

the play dead part should be fine...

I always use the play dead joke for Rocky Racoon in my shows....(where you whack his head really hard on the table)...you get some shocked looks from some people but eventually they will laugh with the rest of the crowd if you give them a second.

come to think of it i did the same thing its very funny

Just got back from the show. I did it, but without the stepping on the dog part. Instead, I twisted the entire dog pretty loosely (only two twists per bubble instead of 6), and cut the tail and held it from deflating. Then at the play dead part, I pulled back the tail and let it shoot back; which untwisted the dog and deflated it in my hands. No one cried and the trick was a success.
