Yup i got a gig, for next year, I have one year to get some kid magic and some good stuff together I think I can do it

What I know now is TT work, with silks for example, and I have a sponge Bunnies/ Sponge Ball routine

What I am looking for is a place to start

You've got a lot of time to bone up for it so you should start now. Forget about getting magic 'tricks' for now that's the easy part.
Get some material to show you how to perform for kids. David Ginn site is good for that.
Ken Scott's stuff is uno. A book that I like is "The Birthday Party Business"
Ginn's site use to carry it. After you take several weeks reading up on HOW to entertain kids then you can start putting your show together.
Maybe four or five skits. What kind of show is it? BD, Picnic?

A great book that I read before my first gig was Seriously Silly - http://www.penguinmagic.com/specialorde ... hp?ID=6996 .

It's a great book and teaches you just about everything you'll need to know about performing for kids. It's my bible.

(I know Kyle is going to chime in here about this, but it's IMHO nothing more. )

Ken Scott is my all time favorite childrens performer (and I have been lucky enough to have him in my local ring, so I meet him every month or two).

He is a great guy and has some AWESOME kids show stuff. Buy it.

LOL!

Chris,

You are right, Ken is good. I recommend ANYTHING by David Ginn, or Ken Scott.

My main recommendations are:

Kidbiz - Ginn
Professional Magic For CHildren - Ginn
Making the Birthday Dough - Scott

I can refer more, but this is enough to get you going with a good start.

If you get a deposit then it is very unlikely they will cancel since they can't get there money back. Maybe they will find another magician, maybe in a year they decide they don't want a magician, etc. By getting a deposit it solidifies the deal. But since it is his aunt it doesn't matter much.
