The thing to do is call other entertainers in your area and find out what they are charging. Just act like you are a customer and ask them. This is not unethical, as you don't want to under charge evryone else and also cheat yourself. You don't want to over charge either.
It depends on what you are doing and offering. If it is a Birthday party, usually $100.00 or more. If there are more than twenty five kids I add alittle more. If it is for a corporation or business you always go higher, maybe $125.00 or more.
I have a friend that does a 45 minute ventriloquist show and he charges Companies $395.00. No magic, ballons or nothing, just vent work.
I do a Vent act, comedy magic show and ballons for $100.00 to 120.00. If they want face painting I charge $2.00 per face. Always try to get the kids to assist in your magic show, but you control everything.

i live in okc, okalhoma price of living is low, not the ideal place for a magician. people dont really hire people for kids parties here, unluss the kids are spoiled, soo not looking so good for me at the moment, 100-200 seems like a lot to me i dont know anyone that would offer any magician that here in okc, except for like big occasions like jewish batmitzahs or things of that sort.

Same here. I think it all depends on the area you live. I never dream of charging more than 50 bucks for an half hour work. I don't know, I guess the fee is proprotionally related to skills and experience.

Join your local IBM ring there in OK City. I know for a fact that some magicians there are getting $150 minimums for a party and are booked year round. As for evolve629 who can't charge more than $50 for a half hour show, get better at magic before performing. I would be offended if someone thought I was only worth $50 for a half hour show. My minimum is $125 and the price goes up from there. Yes there are some in town that charge $50 a show, and every time I have someone say "johnnie only charges $50 and you're $150" I will tell them "you can not get a new Rolls Royce for the same price as a used Yugo. I have a deal with the other magicians, they don't raise their prices to match mine and I don't lower my quality to match theirs."

Remember if you price yourself low people will expect the quality to be low.

we have a local magic shop here and i support them i was at their booth for boshears air show and sold tons of stuff but doing this i must've entertained about 900 kids if not more but linda eubanks is the owner and on my buisness card is has her number and says call for booking ...... followed by her number at the shop....... i also work at the shop 3 days a week which also gives me a lot more interaction w/ people and other magicians ,........ anywho back to the point. las show i did was an hour and a half , i made 150 linda booked it for 200 but she was there in her harvey the magical rabbit suit....... saves me stress but i may lose 20 or 50 usd here and there but any big thing at the shop hince " the flying dragon, ( a levitation effect) but im allowed to use anything in the shop i want to try......... i dunno.... hope this helps

I am 14, and I have gotten many gigs. My standard prie 1s 125, but with balloons ect. it is abut 150
