This has been asked before but the whole section seems to be wiped out. Wierd.

Depends on where you live but my minimum is US$125. If you are performing you do not get "yelled at" and "having things grabbed." A performer controls the crowd and hs the children sit down and be quiet. Read books by David Ginn and Sameul Patrick Smith on kid show magic. Google them.

im not an expert on charging or anything, but it shouldnt be "harder" because you should be able to control your audiance. One really helpful thing for me to control the kids, is to make a "magic line" (a peice of rope on the ground) a few feet in front of me, that if anyone passes the magic doesnt work. it works wonders. hope this helps, although it is not the answer you were asking for, but thought i might give you this tip-alex

How old are you? How much is the average in your area? How do you rate your act? Do you have balloons or other extras? How expirienced are you? You need to answer all these questions.

Have you worked before, your a bit younge I started neer that age though. Your listing off these tricks you bought off penguin, listen you don't need amazing tricks, your hired to entertain, the tricks are secondary.

The rates I mentioned earlier are, again for the midwest contiguous states. In HI I would call around and price other magi on their party prices. Not sure but HI should be higher than my prices because of cost of living higher.

you are not anywhere NEAR ready. when you have enough stuff to do a 3 hour routine, STILL be a kids show, then cut it down a LOT, use you best stuff, make a routine out of it, practise it a hundred times, and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER ACCEPT A SHOW OFFER UNLESS YOU COULD DO IT LATER ON THAT DAY!

How can you do kids shows? You are a kid. Your too young to be doing shows for people you don't know. Wait a few years, but in the mean time, get together some good tricks. You have a lot of work to do.

Really? I'm 12 and I do parties and kids shows. Some of them are older than me. I still get paid, and they all love my tricks. Anyone can do it. Just practice, practice, practice. I did.

As a parent, the only reason I would hire someone under 18 for a magic show is if I personally knew the kid and I was doing him a favor or I didn't want to spend a lot of money.
Seriously, very few people will knowingly hire a kid to be an entertainer. It's a tough road to travel, that's for sure.
Where I live, you'd be fortunate to get $20 for a 30 minute show if you're under 18. If you're an adult, you could pull in five times as much for the same show. I ask for $125 for a 30 minute kid show, $200 for a 45 minute adult show and $200 for 45 minute parlor hypnosis. I usually get a 20% tip on top of all that.

Get work while you can, but until you're old enough to be worth the big bucks, take whatever you can, even the free gigs. It's great experience.

Good luck

I have been performing kids shows for a long time. I charge $100.00 for a hour of straight magic. $150.00 for a hour with straight magic and doves including other animals. $175.00 to $200.00 for a hour with magic animals and balloons depending on the size of the party.

Hope that helps
