im not that old (im 14) but when i was alot younger (around 5) my uncle used to pull quarters out of my ear, and id be completely thrilled. me and my cousin did a few tricks for a group of 8 year olds a few days ago. i did killer key and most of the kids were in awe by it, but some of the other kids almost guessed the gimmick! id done it for a bunch of kids at my school that day and noone even came close! are any of you seeing anything like this?

for kids, anything is possible...This is one of the reasons that they can figure out certain ideas and solutions. To get into a childs mind and search around is a great thing. Children will tell you what they think when they think it (which is why they are excellent critics for us kidshow performers). Kids have always been much smarter than we give them credit for.

I would suggest finding out what you did wrong and then make an attempt to fix it.

Just brush it off. In a couple of weeks they will forget about you even doing the trick...

haha they are clueless now cause i stopped any of their ideas (if you guys have the trick you know how you can do it but i dont wanna expose), but still, it was very surprising.

You are right about them being the best critics for kid shows. I have a six year old and anytime I make up a new vent skit or magic routine, he is the first to see it.
He will then 'inform' me what I need to make it better. He looks at it the way any child would, so I value his opinion.
My advice to anyone out there if you have younger siblings.. use them.
Of course he (Brent) knows how to do the tricks almost better than I and most of the patter that goes with it because he has seen me go over it so much. So I guess he knows what I am aiming to do.

I use my younger sisters, and kids I see on the bus when I get a new effect. Or I try it out in a show a few times (if it is a stage effect) and after the show I talk with the kids and ask them what they though about the new trick. Great way to get information on your show!
