I was wondering what you all use as far as amplifiers go when performing a kids show. Or do any of you even use one at all? If you do, please tell me what you think of it and if you think it was worth the price or not. Thanks!

Definetly worth the price, but don't get the heapest stuff. Later on, you will thank yourself for getting the more expensive stuff. I use a karyoke machine. I have added a wireless mic into it. I have a lapel mic, but I am thinking about using a headset which I am looking into know.
You look a lot more professional with a mic and it helps save your voice if you do a lot of shows.

Don't leave home without it, I use a headset mic with it. The one I got I saw on E-bay for $125.00 brand new. You get a hand mic, a lapel mic and a headset mic.

I have a 12 watt amp...Not to big, but it works for even the biggest halls...

I also cordless headset....

Ofcourse I dont use it for Birthdays in the peoples home.

If the room is a decent size I'll still use it in a home. One it makes you look more like the 'entertainer.' It gives you the appearance of being in charge plus I do a ventriloquist skit so I use it to misdirect the voice. After the vent skit I normally turn it off if it's a smaller room.
A lot of the parties are at a clubhouse so it works great for that.

I too have been looking for a headset mic on ebay. Try looking at the seller uprightenterprises. They seem to have some good mics. I would also be interested in the seller you bought from kgmagic.

Thanks sluggo, that happen to be one of the units I was looking at, but I wasn't sure if it was any good or not.

For the larger gigs, I use a Crate Limo amp with a Sennheiser Evolution 845s handheld mike on a Gim-Crack holder. The mike is great at rejecting feedback and the amp is self powered, so I don't have to search for a power outlet. If I need more power than the amp's 50 watts, the venue already has a sound system and a soundman.

I use a fender, 2 speaker portable sound system. Holds up to 5 mic's or player devices. I use it to control my music and I use the headset microphone to project my voice. GREAT sound system. One of the best/most durable/portable sound systems I have come across.

This system only comes to festivals, school assemblies, and larger shows. I would no go through the trouble of setting it up for a birthday party

could you use a bass guitar amp....cuz ive got one of those

Go to a place like the guitar center (I don't know if they are national) and just pick up a traveling PA. They cost about 200 on sale, but they are nice, portable, loud, and wireless.

actually bass ampliphiers should work... even though they are heavy and bulky...
