For my show i was thinking about using a comedy warmup to start it out. SOme of David Ginn's warmups are preety good, and I might use one of those, but does anyone know where I can find some good ones?

How old are the kids you are performing for?

7 and up.

Your warm up should be at least five minutes long. This is your opportunity to win them over and show them that if they follow your lead the show will be fun.
You set the rules during this time 'in a fun way' and it is the time where you show who is in charge.
During your warm ups you should have them laugh, applaud, shout and participate.
After that they should be putty in your hands. Unless they were spawned by Freddy Krueger.ha!

I always pretend to do a big comical hand warmup. I start out with a plastic dixie cup in my armpit, and "crack my knuckles" really loud.

Then I do the wrist-twisting illusion (can't remember the real name) and some other neat body magic. Finally I get on with introductions, rules, introducing my favourite props, etc.

I'm looking to introduce the "Black and White Gloves to Silk" effect as well...any suggestions would be appreciated.

i would say some of the "Gags" from Sankey 1999 but i dont think they are for kids

I always thought that the warmup wasn't supposed to have any magic. I thought it was purely comedy and gags to get the audienced warmed up and ready to have a great time.
Are you supposed to use magic in warmups?

In my warm ups I go over the rules, how to applaud, and set the theme of the show.

My rules:
1. The first rule is Shhhhhhhh!!! can u say SSSHhHHHHHh!
2. The second rule is "well its going to sound silly but, glue on the bottom stay seated.
3. The last rule is have fun can you have fun.

Then I teach them how to applaud, instead of standing up and saying I LIKE THAT I LIKE THAT!! ( I think that this may be the kids first show so you want to show them how to act in all shows.)

Then i just set the theme. Trying to find my dove that we lost in the beggining of the show, and playing with some of his toys on the way.

Thats my warm up. I dont have any magic in mine.

Yes your warm up can have magic in it but no big production. After I set up I take my huge camera and take a few pics (funny, wacky) pics that really gets them going.
Then I do a who's here not here routine. Yell out your first name when they do my hat falls off and when I try to put it back on it flies up in the air unknowingly to me. I adivse them that during the show they should pay very close attention because if they don't something could happen that they can miss. I then take this long silk and flip it and it goes from colorful to black.
I then bring out my breath tester (wilting rose) to show that my breath is minty fresh so they don't have to worry when they come up to help. They try it and it stands up when I do it of course it wilts without my knowing it.
This is the basic description but you get the idea.
