Today I did my first show in which I got paid. Its awesome to be able to perform magic and get paid too. Thank you guys for giving me great advice.
The show went great. I also learned a lot. So to all who are planning on doing a first time show, here is some advice that I learned which may help you.
1. Do a fun warmup. I had the kids screaming and laughing so hard and it was just a simple warmup.
2. Make funny facial expressions. The kids were laughing just from waching my face.
3. Set rules before the show. I didn't. I produced my rabbit, and 10 kids ran up to pet it right away.
4. Make sure you make clear what your name is so they will remember you by name. I introduced my name to them and I have it written on my shirt. But the kids couldnt read and didnt remember my name at the end of the show. Next time I will introduce myself by my magic name, and then ask them to repeat it a couple of times. You could probably turn that into a little warmup by seeing who can yell your name the loudest.
Thats all I can think of now. Thanks.
