Hey im 13 years old and I have been doing magic for 4 years and I really like performing for kids and I want to start doing kids Birthdays but I dont think people will hire me because I am only 13. So I was wondering what some of you all thought about this and what age you started kid shows.

Hey i am startin out to so I am no pro but i am only 16 and Just put your name out there I get lots of calls now and i have two show scedualed in the next 2 months I am really exited but I dont think 13 is two young just explain to the parents that you look young but have lots of experiance. I wish i started doing kid shows when i was 13 I would be a lot better at them now. If there aren't a lot of magicians in your area parents will definatly hire you. I am one of the only magcians around so I have a huge plus lol. Anyway good luck to you.

Im 13 too. Every year I do about 2 free shows for my school and the teachers send letters home and after that I do about 5 shows from that that. All you have to do is prove that your mature for your age.

I started doing Birthdays at age 13, it's a good age.

You say you've been doing magic for four years, in what way? Performing shows? at school? in what way. What does your show consist of? Do you have a show? Your age will be a road block to some degree, but if you have a killer show that will help.
What are the parts of your show?

Kids shows, you can get if you use the I'm 13 years old thing as an angle, heck you can do nursing home shows too, that's what I was doing at about that age. They'll think it's "cute" and hire you. Just make sure you have enough material to do a 30-45 minute show. The nursing home shows are pretty easy to get too, just give'em a call and ask to speak to the director of activities and let'em know who you are and what you want to do and give them a low price, make'em an offer they can't refuse! As for kids shows, try advertising on local bulletin boards and maybe get the family to give you a hand in spreading the word. It's much tougher to get those because you have to wait for a party or something to come up. I'd print out some business cards too, they'll think it's all the "cuter".
