Does anybody here know any really great ways to make the birthday kid the star of the show!

try some comedy magic on him, bring him up next to you and then he can be the star of the show.

I always make the birthday child the star of the show by getting them to help me with my prized coloring book routine, in which they are made the magician, dressed as a magician, and givin a magical stage name. It is great for photos that the parents want to make and it is a memorable thing.

Also, there is a newspaper cut out there that is really simple to do...I think Gene Anderson wrote about it in his newspaper magic book. You roll up a newspaper and cut it once. Then when you unfold it, there is a large star cutout in the middle of the page.

I believe it was ken scott I saw use it and hold it in front of the birthday child as he said "Tada the star of our show!" then he gave the child the paper.

Kyle good way to make them the star, it's imperative to do this to impress the parents..who is paying you.
Besides bringing them up to help with magic, I also bring them up in the beginning and give them a Magician's assistant certificate, a coloring page of the magic show, a birthday hat with matching toy, a magic wand and an autographed color photo of your's truly.
Most everything has my Ph# on it. Alittle PR(public relations) and advertising in one.

Speaking of actual star effects, I know in one of the Pack Small Play Big videos there is a terrific star trick; Starcle.

I actually saw this magic wand once (I don't know where it was from) but it looked like a normal magic wand, but then you take the tips off and unfurl a "magician's assistant" certificate. It's perfect for any kid show.[/quote]
