I recently had to write a definition essay for school, and the only time i enjoy essays is if i write about something im passionate about.

What is a magician? A magician is someone who puts magic in your heart by doing something you don't see on a day to day basis, and making it magical. If a magician shows you a trick like this: “hey look at this” you'll be impressed, but it's not magical, however if he uses patter (a running commentary while performing) it will be so magical! A person who shows you a trick then immediately after reveals it, is not a magician, he is just a whiny loser who wants attention(my opinion) that is not magic, its just kind of like “oh, neat” so this is going to reveal what magic truly is!

As said earlier someone who says “hey look at this”, and shows you a magic trick is not a magician. Well, I take that back, someone who does that is not a true magician. See magic is about putting magic in people's hearts, you're not doing that by showing them a trick. You're simply providing a small ounce of entertainment, no where near what you could be providing.
So to put it simply, someone who shows you a trick with no patter whatsoever, is not a magician.

A magician is not someone who does a magic trick and immediately after reveals how to do it.
Someone who does that is just someone craving attention, and that's the only way they know how to do it. After it is revealed, where is the magic? GONE! The mystery is gone so now its just like as said earlier “oh, well that's neat” instead of ”Holy cow how did you do that!?!!” This is the number one type of person that magicians dislike with a passion.

A magician is someone who A: can perform tricks very well and does it because he loves it, B: someone who adds patter and life to the trick he is performing, that is the HUGE difference between a good magician and a bad magician, and C: the best magician is one who does NOT reveal secrets. I hope that gives you an idea of what a true magician is.

A magician, is one of the best entertainers in the world, (my opinion) he can have you laughing, crying, and gasping, sometimes at the same time! A magician is not someone who shows you a trick in a monotone voice with no emotion. A magician is not someone who shows you a trick and reveals it immediately after. But if you truly want to find magic, look in your heart.

I understand your points. But this was very poorly written. You are consistently using words which make you sound like a 14 year old (e.g. "a bad magician is like "this is how it is done" and a good magician is like "I'm not showing you how this is done"." like you get what I mean?). I also believe you never truly defined what a magician is. You defined things a magician does/does not do. Also, some magicians (not me necessarily) would be pretty upset with your continuous use of the word "trick" instead of "effect". Using "trick" implies that what we are doing is tricking you. Using "effect" means the whole thing we are showing you is part of an experience. That is the difference between the two in my opinion. Not bad though, if you are actually 14 or so. Just a few things I would have done differently.

I'm 13. lol and next time il use effect.
