Alright guys, time for another essay from cowboy. I got bored today in class and I decided yo write this. This one is based on the overall understanding and respect of fellow magicians.

The first point I would like to touch base on is the respect that magicians should show one another. When you are walking down the street and you happen upon a crowd of people gathered around a street performing magician, you may feel the urge to as a magician to draw more attention to yourself. In essence you become your own worst enemy....a heckler. No matter how strong the urge may be to make a comment on a certain trick or to pull out your own cards, you must fight it. Just think of yourself as being in his shoes. You probably wouldn't like it if you were in the middle of a great performance and someone started whispering amongst the crowd as to how one of your effects was accomplished. You would probably also get pretty pissed if another magician came along and stole your spotlight. The reason such things concern me is because I have read numerous stories on other sites aswell as penguin of how people "showed up" another magician. It just makes me sick to read such things....it is not a competition.

The second thing I wanted to touch base on is the tendacy that we all have (including myself) to harshly criticize another magician. All magicians, newbies and veterans alike, have their strong points aswell as their weak points. For some reason, all some people can seem to do is see the weaknesses and none of the strengths, which in their book means that this particular magician "sucks." Seeing as we all are involved in the same art, I find it very critical that we understand and respect one another. Afterall, we don't want magicians completely and utterly hating each other like rappers for instance do. When we learn more understanding and respect for one another in this art, we will find that rather than busting each others' chops, helping each other works just as well, and we can only be better because of it.

I'm quite the opposite. I love to be a spectator and even if I know the trick being done I still enjoy the performance. I imagine that everyone feels the same way when they go to a (fill in your favorite band) concert, even though you know the words it's so nice to hear someone else sing.

I usually try to introduce myself as a fellow in the brotherhood and hopefully make a new friend with similar interests.

why do people say magic is stupid when it was the FIRST art form AND it basicly formed all of the other arts

acutally, it was in TA (Teachers Assistant) and I had just gotten finished grading some papers with like 30 minutes to spare......so I whipped out the paper and pen.

He he, well great job, you inspired me to write my own essay.....someday......

It was a grand read, much worth my time.
