Some people think that poker is all about a low life slackers side line to getting rich and not working.

Some think of it as a good time with friends and a eventfull and fun game

Really it depends on how you look at it. Are you that good? If your bad you will be with the rest of the crowd thinking that "Oh hey its stupid you just lose and everybody cheats"

If you win you are thinking "Oh boy I just won some free money yay!"

The truth is even though some people may say "get a job dont play poker its stupid you will get too far down into it and lose everything" that is entirely WRONG.

IT really depends on how you look on poker, say the outlook of it.

Are you somebody who always loses? Then maybe you should stop, but if you are one of those people who are making tons of money playing poker than i say keep it going good for you.

Basic Lesson in all of this: NO matter how you try to look at it, everybdoy has their strengths and weakness' and you should not judge one sport/activity on how you look at it and how well YOU are good at it.

So no more of this poker sucks, you will eventually get too far down in it, because many people have disciple and will not.

thought i do not loose money cos i've been doing car cheating for about
7 months so all i'm saying that u can make money out of it though i would not recomend playing poker as a job .

I went on a three game losing streak and then BAM Im back and winning and I made more in one game then i lost in all three....but for a job its kinda hard to live off

Man, poker is so much fun. I love Hold 'Em, 5 and 7 Card Draw, 7 Card Stud. I love playing with the boys and drinking beer and smoking cigars back in the day. I loved talking trash and the bond between friends. We used to play for quarters, nickels, and dimes all of the time. Good times gentlemen, good times.

Never got involved in the Rounders type of high stakes games. I think that is one of the premises ol' Harleyboy mentioned: the ills of playing poker and gambling overall.

Poker is a harmless game when the stakes are not too high. I am not quite sure why this topic is in the Magic Essay section unless you are talking about using various sleights to tilt a game in your favor. My sister at Harvard talked about a poker tournament on campus. There was around several thousand as the prize. The person that won the money was caught cheating at another tournament and was physically threatened by students. How did he cheat...Well, let's just say a card cheat, no matter how technically sound, is not a good card cheat is he gets caught.

Sorry dude, I am a successful, functioning human being. I made the Dean's list at my college several times. And guess what, I used to play poker for free beers all of the time. Nothing like a game of poker before going out to the club to hit on the ladies. Gosh, I feel like I am debating a bunch of FCA kids at the local Baptist church in the Deep South.

The morale of this post: "Don't cheat in card tournaments, beer and poker are not inherently evil, and poker is a good time when you are playing against the opposite sex in a particular type of poker (use your imagination... Not a G Rated Version of the game), do not gamble with your grocery and rent money, or play Guido a high stakes game that will cost you your arms and legs if you can't pay up.....
