Michael Finney is my Favourite Magician, after seeing him at the Bristol Day of Magic this year. It's my delight to present him as the return to Magician of the Week!
Michael never particually wanted to be a Magician. However, he became intrest in Magic while he was a Bartender. One of his co-workers vanished a lit cigarette, and after nagging him and nagging him, Michael was offered the price of $100 for the meathod. After he had saved up, he was given in exchange for his money a Thumb-Tip!
His favourite style of Magic is platform. This is because it can be done in front of 5000 people, or for 14 people.
Michael was responsable for getting Comic Magicians to do six card repeat. He comments that when he started doing it no one else was doing it because it is such a Hockey Trick. He also has fantastic variations on Card on Forehead, Cut and Restored Rope and the Sponge Balls.
His first job was in a restauraunt. He entertained outside to the queues outside of the restauraunt, and wasn't complained about because he was keeping the crowd happy. However, he commented to the manager one night that he would not be performing to the queues that night because he had a paid gig. The restauraunt manager topped the price the other restauraunt (but of cource, the other restauraunt was a figerment of Michaels imagination!).
Michael was born with a cleft palate, but has now become one of Magic's leading comic magicians. Dai Vernon commented to Michael that "You don't do much magic, but you're very funny!"
