In my table hopping act, I rarely open with a card trick. One evening, a lone couple beckoned me to return for an encore. I proffered a card effect and they gladly accepted.

I shuffled, spread, and asked the gentleman to select a card, memorize it, and show it to the lady. Meaning to control his selection, I held out half the cards, gesturing for him to place his card on top of the half...that's when I LOST CONTROL.

He grabbed my half-deck, shoved his card into its center, and began to shuffle, with a knowing smurk on his face. I stopped him and said, "You're only using half of the cards! Here, take these (handing him the rest of them), and continue suffling". Meanwhile, I was cooking up a suitable out. I truly didn't know what his selection was. As he continued to shuffle, I said, "No matter how much I beg or plead, DON'T tell me what your card is". He agreed with an arrogant grunt. (I was going to get him to reveal the card to me outright.)

When he was satisfied (and still smurking) he handed me the deck. His (date) was glaring at him. I asked, "Since you did all the shufling and cutting, and I didn't touch your card, do you think it would be a good trick if I somehow influenced you to shuffle it to the top of the deck?" "Sure would!", he replied with a snort.

I lifted the top card as if to turn it over, and commanded, "Name your card, sir!" As (my) good luck would have it, his card was the top card (What are the odds?). I let it fall gracefully face up on the deck, and congratulated them for a fine dining experience.

I'll bet, to this day, that man is still thinking, "How the..."

I love luck

One time... I did d'lights at a kid show (red d'lights). And i'm "pulling" the colour from the kid's clothes and putting them into other kids clothes. And i guess this one kid must of been dressed by her mum or something (she didnt know what she was wearing). Cause i said "Now your shirt is Red". And she was amazed (understatement)!! From a effect point of view, i had taken the colour off someone's shirt and change the colour of the shirt they were wearing. Strong stuff!

So now i use that line all the time "Now your shirt has changed colour", in case it happens again.

Also one time i guessed a thought card, 3 times in a row. It wasn't the effect i was going to do, but that was down right a miracle.

D'Lights are great fun. I'm hardly ever without one in each pocket. I use them while waiting in line, waiting for my food at restaurants, etc. It's especially fun when yoo fine someone else in the crowd who has one, and you can play a little "catch" with the light, change its color, etc.
