One thing that works nicely is to start off with a normal deck, and do tricks that get cards into their hands. That way, they get used to normal cards. Then you can do a deck switch and bring in the gaffed deck. A great way to do an easy deck switch is to put the deck in your pocket and do something non card, then after the trick, bring in the gaffed deck. And to them, the deck will seem normal, because they've already been able to look at it. The key is to just get them accustomed to a normal deck (or other props for that matter), then bring in the gaffs and gimmicks when they're not expecting it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
