Criss failed an escape attempt this past Friday 2-27-2007, in Vegas. He is reported to be fine. Here's the snipet from the Reviel Journal:

Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife, Beth, in town for their bounty hunter convention, called off their interview with Mark & Mercedes at KMXB-FM, 94.1 at the last minute Friday when Dog's publicist called to say Beth broke her foot and was getting a cast put on it. Later, Dog and Beth participated in a demonstration with illusionist Criss Angel at the Luxor pool. They tied and shackled Angel and pushed him into the pool. He was submerged for 4 1/2 minutes trying to get free before his handlers got the sign to go after him. Angel has rarely stayed under more than 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, so it was "a close one," a rep said. ...

I'm guessing he's getting overly cocky, and didn't take the necessary precautions.

Probably right.

I wasnt too fond of his past escapes either. They werent presented very well.

My guess is it was a bunch of crap, and what they wanted to happen happened. They probably wanted to film it for an episode for the next season and advertise it saying something like "Angel almost dies." People like danger, so it would increase ratings. I kind of doubt Angel, along with his army of people, messed up something that bad. I'm thinking they made dog think he was doing a real escape, as they will the mindfreak audience, but the entire time they planned to make it look like he was in danger so they could rescue him and then they would have the whole "Angel almost died" thing going on for the episode.

But he might have just screwed up too lol.

I think it is the perfect build-up to a season premier "Angel faces death again" and this time he gets it right. The danger and close to death thing suits him. Real crowd pleaser too people love the possibility of injury.
