I have been thinking and I am sure others would agree, that this forum needs a change. My proposal is that we change the name to "TV Magic". It would still cover Angel and Blaine but would also encompass other magician's performances and magic on commercials and Americas Got Talent. So please lets hear what you think.

I fully agree. Why not just change it to "Famous Magicians" or something? I like your idea the most though.

Yes, and Blaine and Angel shouldn't be included in Hall of Fame

I'm curious to why you think Blaine shouldn't be in the hall of fame. Is it because he uses tricks that you could do? Or that almost anyone could do? That doesn't matter, his presentation style perfectly fits what he was performing. He was playing a modern day miracle maker, and he made regular people from the streets freak out.
Is it because he pulls all those stunts? Those are just endurance tests, which he himself has called them, not magic tricks at all. They should have no bearing on whether or not he deserves to be in there.
To put out my opinion, he should be in the hall of fame. The man single-handedly changed the way the world (or at least the developed part of it) views magic. It was around 1998 if I'm not mistaken that he released Street Magic. Since then, magic has completely changed in the eyes of the world. Before then it was mostly people on stages performing these outlandish effects (like making army tanks disappear) and basically doing nothing new. Blaine comes along and starts doing these simple card effects to regular people, on the street, and it shows the world that magic can be done in regular situations to regular people at any time. Instead of always on a stage, by some guy in a tuxedo with smoke and mirrors and such. Simply put, he changed it all, therefore he deserves to be in there.
Angel, on the other hand does not in my opinion, he's simply following in the TV magicians wave. He brings nothing new to the table in my opinion, and has not really changed the worlds view besides people asking magicians "can he really walk up a building?", "can he really float across two buildings?" and "can he really walk on water?".
But of course, reaper, you are entitled to your opinion. But if you don't think Blaine deserves to be in the hall of fame, I would argue (as I have) that you're wrong.

And why do you think Criss Angel should not be in the Hall of Fame? He has performed some of the biggest, thought-provoking illusions ever. Just to name a few where I guess even you guys here have to admit that they can't have been camera tricks:

-> he walked on water

-> he levitated over the Luxor light

-> he holds the world's record on Metamorphosis, the fastest ever and the first to do it that fast without a cloth

-> he saws himself in half without any boxes

I could write more, but for me that's already enough to justify his place in the Hall of Fame.

Hey, this is a discussion on if you want the name to change. If you want to babble about why "He who must not be named" is so great, then take it where it belongs. If you want too talk about the hall of fame go there, this topic is not for that. Can we all please just keep ourselves on topic and if you have something to add please do.

Sorry Juliegel, I was just replying to bucky310 and thought it's ok, but you're right.
So my 2 cents to the topic: the poll was a good idea, though I'm not sure if a name change would make sense. On the one hand it would be good to have a place where everything relating to magicians performing on tv can be discussed, on the other hand those 2 guys are a huge advertisement for magic- and for the penguin shop.

Yeah change it. Or make it "Blaine and lamebrained MTV rock-star/metrosexual reject in biker clothes with a speech impediment."

I have already explained myself in the previous post I made, I suggest you go and read it again.

Would I reply to something I hadn't read before? No, it was just that the explanation you gave was only about your personal opinion and not about serious facts. That's why I would have liked you replying to what I posted, but if you want to, let's go to the Criss Angel thread in the Hall of Fame section. We're not very welcome here to discuss this point.

This topic is about changing the name of this forum, not who is qualified to be in the "Hall of Fame."

If the name change occurs, I imagine all the Blaine/Angel/Brown posts currently in the Hall of Fame forum will be moved here, leaving H of F for magicians not currently in the spotlight of the media.

Keep going, your proving a point. Criss SHOULD be in the hall of fame.

Hall of Fame is reserved for Legendary Greats such as Houdini, Kellar, Devant, etc…
Criss will no doubt find his posts in the new Forum: “Current Names in Magic”

This topic is about “Forum Name Change” not Hall of Fame. If you want to argue your point, I suggest you go to that thread…
