Im a big fan of Blaine considering he was the first magician I saw, even though he pretty much built a career on a charisma, an interesting character, some simple DL tricks and gimmicks.

Anyway on to my point, does anyone know with any degree of certainty if his 44 day fast was legitimate? I only ask this because I remember watching a programme about it on ITV1 over here in the UK, which alleged it was faked and there was a guy dressed like Blaine hanging around in the closed off quarters. They proved this with video footage. This guy had the exact same skin tone, hair colour, shirt and trousers. The programme was called Tonight with Trevor McDonald.

I remember also hearing about his frozen in time stunt which was alleged to have been faked with a trap door, is there any substance to this or is it all just speculation?

I don't believe any of it, but people say we didn't go to the moon (and had some very interesting theories to prove it). There's a video on YouTube which allegedly spots David Blaine in the crowd at his own Drowned Alive Stunt. It does kind of look like him, but I could never get a good look at the guy. Food for thought, I guess.

I don't think that's him. If drowned alive was a trick, than he would of beat the record. Why would they go through all the trouble of making the illusion that he was in there and have him fail?

Because failure means that he gets even more publicity. And it means that more people will now want to watch him again, because it's now known that he can fail. I believe he failed on purpose, because it's a very smart thing to do so.

As for it being just a trick, and David Blaine being in the crowd; it's completely illogical. If it was a trick, David Blaine isn't stupid. Neither are his promoters and advisers. He wouldn't be caught dead in that crowd. Because someone would see, and expose it to the world. Showing the he's a completely fake, and basically destroy his reputation.

That is why he couldnt break the record because it was fake and if he did break it, Guiness would have said it wasnt legit.
