I suppose, of course without a clue of how they are doing it, that the secrets to these two tricks are kind of similiar. I've noticed that all of them are using a newspaper (don't know what Takayama uses is called) to cover the window when doing this effect.

Is this an effect that is possible to perform in the real life, or is this just TV-magic? And is it possible to purchase this effect some place?

Not in Takayama's version. Thats all real and is alot simplilar then you would think. Although its not practical because well you have to get a manufactor to make you a custom made fish tank, and it would be really portable.

I guess it would be good for stage though :lol:

I only know how one of these illusions can be done (I won't tell which one). Maybe it's not exactly the way the magician used, but it can be done this way- all I will tell you is that it's possible without camera editing, but you need another person, a stooge or assistant- maybe it can be also done alone, but I have no idea about that. I think if one of these through-glass-illusions work that way, the others use a similar technology... but the materials for it are expensive. It can also be done on a live stage, but it should be clear you can't just go out there and use any window...

Basically they're all the old glass penetration kiddie trick we all got in magic sets on steroids. Both Blaine and Angel admit that it's the first trick they learned. It's a cool little thing and has a lot of sentimental value for me.
