Tricks in Frozen in Time

I just watched for the first time Frozen in time. There are a few tricks I'm curious if anyone knows where I can purchase or knows the method of.

1) David talks to a woman and she is holding a book. He asks her age and name. Suddenly she turns to page thirty ( her age) and her name was Megan, so a large "M" was burned on the page. It looks like somehow a bit of flash paper was ignited as she opened book.

2) David ripped a card in half and it caught on fire.

Anyone who knows I would appreciate. - Brandon

i would say it was flash paper or flash pads.

I would agree that it is flash paper or flash pads for the fire effect, but how does it get set ablaze as she opens the page? I'm gathering the 'M' is a premarked job...
