I dont get why, I mean I would much rather watch him do some different card tricks on the street then do that. He wants to seem un human.
It will be interesting to see i guess.

I don't understand it either. I thought he was supposed to be a magician but now he's leaning more toward stunts to get publicity.

I for one would enjoy him a lot more if he just stuck to his magic.

There's nothing magical about dangling from a cage for 44 days without food.

Oh well, maybe he's only in it for the money at this point!

he says it's not for entertainment, "screw the networks and tv" and all that kinda thing. so why is he doing it in public? what happened to all that earlier stuff about communicating and connecting with people? why choose the thames? why can't he just go starve himself in his backyard?

that said, i will probably make a trip down to see him doing it before it's over. :P

Interesting stunt. Actually I would rather see him do something dangerous where he could die instantly rather than slow and painfully, and boring to watch. I will still watch though.

Lol, noone realizes why he does stunts? Because just magic tricks don't get high ratings. You may watch magic specials, the average person would not without some incredible feat thrown in.

I heard in a lecture (college) once, and I don't know why this stuck with me, but the most number of days that anyone can fast is 40 to 41. I remember the professor saying that at that point, the stomach actually begins to eat itself from the inside. Once that starts, theres nothing a Dr. can do for you. True or not, I don't know. It'll be interesting to see how Blaine handles it.

Contrary to the teachings of proponents, fasting doesn't "cleanse" or "rest" the liver. If anything, fasting overworks the liver by saturating it with toxins produced by fasting itself [2]. Fasting can be dangerous, especially when undertaken or supervised by ideologists who are blind to its actual effects. Shelton's fasting regime was responsible for several deaths. A 49-yr-old man died of bronchial pneumonia that resulted from a 30-day distilled water diet sponsored by "Dr. Shelton's Health School" in Texas (said to be sixth such death in five years while undergoing treatment at the school) [3] Proponents of fasting often evoke the dangerous "healing crisis" theory of naturopathy alleging that adverse symptoms experienced by the faster are "poisons being expelled by the body."

Excerpt borrowed from the National Council Against Health Care Fraud.

Tristan of course he does. He has stated it several times. As to David being Jewish, that would be news to me. I know David Copperfield is... anyrate I find that the whole starving stunt rather....lame. I

mean hats off to him for being able to fast for over 40 days. I hope this will be a very spiritual time for David, but I know plenty of pastors who do the same thing. Of course they aren't locked up in a bizzare prison. And I do feel sad for anyone who is watching David on the webcam's.

I mean he is going to have to use the the restroom...and this time the catheter isn't going to help.

I like David Blaine but I seem to think that each of his specials has slowly declined in entertainment since the first one, Street Magic. But I have heard rumors that he has a new Levitation that he is doing in bars, and letting people slip a menu under neath his feet as to 'prove' he is levitating. He also singed up for four more ABC specials. So he won't be going anywhere for awhile. I just hope this next special will blow me away. - Brandon
