For what? To see him hang in a box for 44 days sending his diapers down and gettin' skinny?

I got bigger fish to fry.

Frijid don't hold back....tell us how you really feel.

Not that I ddon't disagree with you. But why so much disdain for blaine.

My opinion on the guy is he is a VERY talented magician with an extremely flaky personality which makes me not care for him too much. His ethereal persona is just too much for me.

You know who's worse is the DB copy cat Rodney Reyes. His video is great and there is good stuff to learn but the guy is a flake. It's not something I can put into words but to watch both DB and RR talk about magic makes me laugh.

Always my humble opinion of course and responsible replies are welcome...

I'm gonna go and see him. Not for the whole 44 days of course, but I'm going to travel down from Scotland to see friends near London at some point, so I'm going to go see Blaine and take photos of it.

I know that people scoff at Blaine's stunts ("standing on a stick for a couple of days" is what one of my friends described Vertigo as) but I'm actually quite excited about his publicly accessible open-air stunts - whether they be magic or not. It makes me think back to Houdini and his large public escapes, and while they're obviously not in the same league I like that it is an event that all can get involved in, even if it is only to go and stare at him.

I did tell you how I feel.

Why disdain for Blaine? Well, in this case, as in others, he claims to be doing magic...when all he is doing is stunts that have nothing whatsoever to do with magic.

At least when Houdini and other like magicians do their stunts they do something magical...they at least make escapes for our entertainment!

Like you said, it's my humble opinion of course.

Where/when has he claimed that staying in this box for 44 days is magic? I haven't read/heard him say that. Do you have a URL or anything?

Well, he is a magician isn't he...or is he, you tell me. Isn't that what he claims to be?

I'll porbably wander down sometime, it's not too far from where I live. And I thought it started friday. On Sky it does anyway.

Might pop down myself just for some photos as i am working at canary wharf (just down the road). As for Blaine I listened to an interview he did before christmas last year on xfm and he claimed he wasn't magical but an entertainer, which I thought was quite honest. He entertains me anyway.

I'm not debating that. You said specifically that Blaine said that by doing this stunt he is doing magic - that's what I'm debating. As far as I'm aware he never refers to his stunts as magic. Even in his book he refers to his stunts as "feats of endurance", not as magic. Personally I don't care what he calls himself... I enjoy his tricks (most of them at least ;) I enjoy his stunts and I'll be going to see him in London :)

Well, there's one thing i do agree with and that is the fact the fact that rodney reyes is just a copy of db, but on his dvd there is good stuff to learn, the only problem is that you can't learn it because he's such an appaling teacher.

Rodney is a terrible teacher. LOL.

"First grab the cards like this. Then twist your thumb all the way around your body and pull it your nose. Like this. Then with your left hand grab the left over packet throw them in the air and catch all of them in your mouth except for the spectators card which you will be able to catch between your toes. Like this......"

"Oh yeah if your right handed just reverse it"

HOW IRRITATING.....

Where exactly is it?
It does start friday @ 8:30 pm....
Anyone wanna meet up? :) LOL

I think David Blaine is a magician, but like he said, he is an entertainer when it comes to his stunts....

is this not just a way of convincing you that it's NOT gimmicked?

I believe that it is not gimmicked or fake....

By the way...I'm not gonna stand there and watch him for 44 days...I meant who is gonna see DB go in + come out....?
