I'm in need of a candle that will automatically ignite. I'm helping my girl become a performing magician and one piece that she's wanting to do is going to require a candle at about waist/chest height. She wants to be able to lean over and blow on the candle to have it ignite. I've got a lot of ideas on how to build this, but would love to simply be able to find something that would do it without me having to design and build something that could potentially be dangerous.

Thanks, anyone got one that's not going to cause me to have to skip all three meals every day for a couple of weeks?

I MUST have this for my Spirit Theater! (It's now on my wishlist).

I have already shelled out $400.00 for a Spirit Bell and another $850.00 for a Tip-Over-Trunk for my Magic Castle Gig, but in the long run, these are investments that shall pay for themselves.

(I almost forgot to mention the $575.00 to have my Rabbit rescued from near death).

Lol you know it never occured to me that such gimmiks existed but then again of course they would it makes perfect sense. Do you have the excaliber table as well? (think that's what it's called, it's a levitating table anyway, I think it's the same one that decieved Arthur Conan Doyle, I may have my facts a little messed up here and it's too late in the eve to go checking through them.)

There was a Magician that used self-lighting candles as far back as the early 19th Century, prior to Robert-Houdin.

It's a classic, traditional piece of magic and perfect for Spirit Theater.

And yes - I do use a floating table; they are made by Dirk Losander. (He has even given me personal instruction on it's use. He is lecturing at the Magic Castle on October 11th. Guess who will be inb the front row?)

Hey exodus. Lance Burton some appearing candle stuff and then lights it. I know it doesn`t automatically light. Just thought I share.

Yeah, I've messed around with his method, but it doesn't work for what she's wanting to do. I've actually been thinking about it and could probably put something that's safe together for around $30, so I'm going to give it a shot.

That would be a nice theatre stage opener-- even if only for a Chicago opener. Walk on to a darkened stage where the house lights are dimmed just enough you can see an outline so that the audience can see nothing is going on but the magician blowing on the candle to make it light. Will have to get hubby working on that.

Exodus, my husband builds a lot of illusions for my daughter. Right now he is working on Tommy Wonder's nest of boxes. If he comes up with an idea on how to make this for her I'll let you know in a PM.

We may have to talk about the Nest of Boxes, too.
