It's cool though... I'm now considering Universal Impression. I'm thinking about maybe wandering around my college to find a volunteer for an "experiment" for a "project" I have to do on my chosen topic of telepathy, clairvoyance, etc. I could have someone film it and tell the spec that I need to do that because I have to document my evidence and research to present to the class. Then proceed with the "experiment" where I read their mind or duplicate their drawing or whatever. I think that would be fun.

Of course people want to get free magic, but they need to make sure the video is definitely qualified for that first.Without the video, he can not get it.

When you say "You must perform for REAL people", you mean people that we don't know or it also includes family and friends?

If all you ever perform for is your good friends and family... you're really not learning much or "born to perform." In my opinion. They are a totally different crowd than people in your schools, malls, street, bars, etc.
If you want real experience and knowledge you need to go out there. And thats what penguin is trying to get yall to do.
Now thats not saying you cant have a friend or two in the crowd for some support, but eventually you need to go past that.

I personally, wouldnt take a video of you just performing for family. Enless its like at a reunion or gathering... since even that takes it out of direct family.. ie parents/brothers/sisters.
But thats just my opinion on the matter.

No big deal. I just received a large gift card to my local magic shop. Plus at this point in my magic career I only need to buy gimmicks that I can't make myself (which is legal when a personal touch is added to each one). I can figure just about everything sold here on my own. Subliminal mesage: make more stumpers. If I were old enough I would try, but I'm under 16 so I probably won't be taken seriously even if I were to create a killer effect.

One thing I dont get is your last sentence... how does that deal with the contest? Or really performing magic at all. There are plenty of magicians under 16 that are taken seriously. Its all in how you represent yourself.

Demos are a double edged sword. If they don't show the full effect, people whine about them hiding details, if they do show the full effect, people can watch it dozens of times until they figure it out.

That being said, I don't think that's what he's saying. I can figure out most closeup magic from watching it done, too. I don't have to watch something over and over to do it, it just comes with the knowledge I have of closeup magic. Dave, you do the same thing. You know enough magic to understand how things work just from watching it. Nothing wrong with that. He never said he didn't support people when he wants to do something.

DavidTheCryptic come on, I'm not that good and nothing new has suprised/shocked me for a while. The last thing that I could not replicate from this site was tarantula. Secondly I am taken seriously locally, but when it comes to the web, all I get are age restrictions.
