Spin-off gigs are when someone hires you and other people at that event want to hire you for their party/function/etc. Another way of putting it is "word of mouth" but most entertainers leave this to chance...I don't.

Next installment...your phone script:

When people call you, you should have a phone script that you go by to increase your perceived value and give you better chances of being hired for the gig. Watch the video and take ideas to use in your phone script.

-use your schedule (real or fake) to create scarcity and the perception of being in demand
-future pacing: get them to see you performing at their event (assume you've already been hired)
-create a yes ladder
-do not place any dates on hold...get your contract signed and returned ASAP

How to approach tables would be nice. I have a script I'm planning on using.

"High my name is Keegan Craven I'm the entertainment for tonight and the magician here at the restaurant would you like to see some magic while you wait for your meal?'

How's that?

Also do you have any incite on how to get a stage show?

I can make a video on those. The stage show is just a matter of what the client is looking for but there are certain events that are more likely to hire stage performers so I'll talk about that.

And don't hesitate to name more ideas.

I'm still confused as to what you do at trade shows. Do you patter specific to the company that hired you or what?

I don't do trade shows but I can tell you what guys like Joel Bauer do so I'll make a video on it but just understand that I don't perform at trade shows. If someone asks me then I'll quote a ridiculously high price because a trade show performer is a salesman.

I just went to the office supply store and got a package of Avery 5889 postcards, plus a bunch of labels. Printed my own postcards and mailed out 100 of them.

What I printed on the cards is:


I left out the price because it will vary from area to area and it my business what I charge. I also ran another 100 cards saying the same except for "residents" I replaced with the word "kids" and sent them to day care centers.

It cost about $30 for 50 sheets of then postcard stock and that will make 100 cards, plus the label stock, again I use Avery 8160. So for less than $100 I sent out 200 postcards and should book at least 10 shows from each mailing.

The only requirement is you HAVE to have a GOOD SHOW!!! If you have a lousy show the day care and nursing home people will have that news spread to every other place in the area. if you have a good show it will build up repeat customers for you.
