Hey guys,

Here's a link to my new website: http://www.JeffPraceMagic.com (or http://www.JeffPrace.com)
It's quite new, so I'd love to hear your thoughts, tips, advice, and improvements.

It basically has the same content as my last website, but I think it's a major upgrade. It doesn't have music, it's not Flash based, and it has photos, etc. Here's my old site (now without a domain) for those who are interested in seeing the comparison: http://www.wix.com/magicman46/gum

Please note this is not a website for my personal performances; this is only designed as a website for magicians to learn more about me and my products.

Tell me what you think!

Jeff

Hey Jeff,

First of all I will say that the new site is a good change from the old site. A few things right off the bat, the text of the navigation on the homepage does not line up with the grey background behind it. Also when I am on the "About" page the top navigation sends the "Contact" link to a new row, right underneath the "Home" link. I also think it is a bit dark and I would change the product page to have more than just images with vector masks. But again I think it is much better than you older site.

The problem might be with the width of the website. It's large, and it looks best on a larger monitor.
Do you guys think this is a better idea: http://jeffprace.com/trial.html

That does look better, I am currently looking at it on my macbook which has a 1280 x 800 res screen. I will take a look at it later with my desktop which is 1680x1050. Most of the popular website either have a fluid width or a fixed width around 950-990px so it fits nicely on the averages pc users monitor

Thanks for your help.
Here are three different widths. Can everyone say what works best on their computer?

http://www.jeffprace.com/index.html (1200)
http://www.jeffprace.com/trial2.html (1000)
http://www.jeffprace.com/trial.html (800)

Out of those three, 1000px wide is definitely the best.

Well "best" is a very opinionated word...You should post of screen shot of what you want it to look like, and go from there.
As far as your coding, I would suggest you create a separate CSS file and do all your style from there. Let the HTML be used only for the structure of the site. It will make it so much easier to make the page look the same on all computers. Not to mention there is a lot more that you can do. And it is just good coding practice. Are you coding this yourself or are you using a WYSIWYG editor? If you want I can PM you with more specifics, but i don't want to make some long boring post. (tl;dr)

I'm using a WYSIWYG editor; I don't really know how to do anything else.

Looks good,

Would know about the size... but the design looks good, Clear, simpel... the stuff we need.
Just make sure it works on chrome, firefox, IE7, IE8 and IE9... the 5 Hells of every Webdesigner.

Great works, You did the design yourself?

Thanks! I did design it myself.

Here are some changes I made:

-Smaller main photo
-Color scheme (white = main text, orange = menu)
-Link for video reviews on the Gum page
-Email is now linked on Contact page so it's not out in the open
-Contact page grammar error corrected

Looks neat, although 'appears' to be a flash based website yet it isn't

I think you should put a little more information about shows and such.

Also, contact. You need a mobile number and email address. I can't imagine a company trying to contact you through facebook or youtube

The website is not for shows; it's for magicians only.
There is an email on the contact page.
