I did a lecture yesterday on restaurant magic and thought I would share a part where I talked about getting tips. A lot of people have asked about techniques on getting tipped so this is an effective and simple way to get people to tip you...it's called The Waiter Method

Enjoy :)

Excellent insights, Benji!

Another idea is to place a small folded piece of paper around a "tip".
Write your name on the paper and place them at a couple of strategic locations nearby such as an empty table next to the table you are about to perform at.
While performing at that table state that you want to do an effect that uses a bill.
Make a gesture that indicates you notice there is something for you at the adjacent table.
Obtain your "tip" from the table, remove the paper with your name on it, setting it on the table you are performing at for the customers to be reminded of. Nothing needs to be said while reaching for your tip and beginning the effect, let the action do the talking for you.
In case a routine involving a bill isn't in one's repertoire that evening, the "tip" could plainly be set on the table in front of you while you state that you have a "better idea", changing your mind and sharing an effect that uses other props or none.

These "tips" may also be picked up by waiters as they go by to utilize what Benji has shared.

never had a problem with server taking a tip intended for me, in fact the servers have come to me and given me the tips from customers. Now I do wear a BIG, 3" dia, button, actually two of them, one says "I WORK FOR TIPS" the other "SUGGESTED TIP $2435.80" plus acouple of other "subliminal" hints to tip.

Wooooops, I intended to mean that waiters can pick up your "tip" and then bring it to you as Benji instructed.

Very SHARP additional "tips", Paddy. Thank You.
